Surfer: Russell Bierke
It will probably remain one of the most incredible surf events of our time for a little while. That morning on 6th June 2016, Mark Mathews and the Red Bull Cape Fear big wave event organisers took a deep breath and sent out a bunch of surfers into waves that looked 150% unmakable.
It proved to work out pretty well. The skill of these athletes was truly next-level and watching wave after was addictive.
18-year-old Ulladulla big wave surfer Russell Bierke took out the event on the second day of competition. Find out what was going through his mind as the youngest competitor and how it felt to win one of the craziest surf events ever run in Australia. WATCH INTERVIEW HERE.
